Search Farm

About The Farm

Down from the chalkland of White Sheet Hill and into the valley below is Search Farm. Search Farm is farmed by the Spencer Family, longstanding tenants of the National Trust Stourhead Estate who have farmed here since 1972.  Search Farm has an area of just over 200 hectares or 500 acres running up from the B3092 to White Sheet Hill within the Cranbourne Chase National Landscape.

At Search Farm Charles, Catherine, Tom and Hannah Spencer grow arable crops, running alongside their dairy and free range egg enterprises. By farming with regenerative principles in mind, the Spencer’s aim to produce great quality food, allowing the farming heritage of the land to continue whilst also allowing nature to regenerate and thrive here. On the farm, both farming and nature have a symbiotic relationship, helping each other to improve and thrive in our ever more challenging climatic conditions.

Remember the Countryside Code

  • There are several public access routes that run through Search Farm and up onto White Sheet Hill. When walking towards Beach Clump and down towards Stourhead House, you will find yourself on the farm. Please remember to respect the growing crops in the fields as well as the margins and areas set aside for wildlife. Please keep your dogs on a lead.
